8th Grade Math

The main focus of 8th grade math is algebra.  The 8-1 group is finishing chapter 12..  They have a practice exit test that they are working on in preparation for the exit test on May 3. After the trip to Washington, we will review chapter 11 for 2 days and then have the chapter test.  The next week we will review  chapter 12 for 2 days and then have that chapter test.  We will be working and having homework until the end.  The 8-2 and 8-3 groups are working on solving and graphing inequalities. After the trip to Washington, we will review chapter 8 and have a test on it.  The following week, we will review chapter 12 and have a test on it..  We have been making foldables for notes and using worksheets with examples for the last 2 chapters rather than the book.We will continue to work and to have homework until the end.

The students need to have their calculators each day.

Your child should have either written or study home work each night.  Homework assignments are a continuation of what we have done in class.  A good study habit is to review the notes and examples from class or from the book before beginning each assignment.  I require that all chapter tests be corrected and then signed by the parents. If you see a zero in Power Grade, then your child has not turned in that assignment. If the grade is low, then the assignment was incomplete.  All work may be corrected for a higher grade.  All 8th grade students will take an algebra exit exam on Monday, May 3.  It will be taken at the home campus during the regular school day.  The results will help the hight schools place the students in the best class for his/her skills and knowledge

I am available for help before school from 7:15 until 8:00 and many  students take advantage of this.  We also have the flex period on Wednesdays when students may see any teacher for extra help.
